Our Mission
Our goal at Breakaway is to simplify the process of growing a practice and bring an increasing level of profitability to the dental practices that partner with us. We do this through our seminars, services and affiliate program.

We share these types of successful systems with dentists and offer our added support and guidance. These systems result in rapid and predictable growth for our clients, taking their practices to the next level of success.
Company History Timeline

Breakaway was founded by Dr. Scott Leune in 2007 after successfully building three dental practices with ten dentists in the San Antonio area that saw over 700 new patients per month.

The systems Dr. Leune put in place for his startups allowed him to manage over 80 employees and his business grossed over $7 million dollars annually – working only 4 days a week! Dr. Leune eventually sold his practices to Heartland Dental Care.

Recognizing the value these systems could provide to his fellow colleagues in the dental profession, Dr. Leune began offering one-day seminars to share the knowledge he had gained.

As enthusiasm for the seminars grew, so did Breakaway. In 2008, the seminars were expanded to 2.5 day seminars to provide more hands-on instruction to the professionals attending.

In 2008, Breakaway Practice also opened its first call center and insurance management services to provide outsourced support to dental practices.

By 2009, the demand for Breakaway seminars increased to a level where they were being scheduled eight weekends a year and covered an increased time frame of 3.5 days.

Dr. Leune entered the DFW market by opening seven startups in eight weeks. These practices, known as DFW Family Dentistry, experienced high new patient flow and substantial profitability. With Breakaway's systems and support, Dr. Leune was able to reduce his management duties to one hour per week.

The demand for high-quality support drove the decision to open Breakaway’s 10,000 square foot Support Center in 2012.

The Support Center moved to a 33,000 square foot office space to accommodate the growing team needed to support the expected 200 private practices and the 70 start-up practices in the Breakaway Affiliate Program.

Breakaway Practice now supports over 350 dental practices across the US and Canada, with 80+ de novos to date, and over 1200 dental professionals participating in seminar events joining the move to redefine dental success and practice management.
